ORANJESTAD – Police on St. Eustatius arrested a Colombian man on Sunday night on suspicion of involvement in the death of a woman.

A roommate found a man and the dead woman in their home early Sunday morning. Upon arrival of the police the woman was pronounced dead. The injured man was brought to the medical center and later detained by police.

The identity and age of the man and the victim have not yet been made public. Also it is not clear on the sort of relationship the two may have had. No information has been released about the investigation and whether the man is suspected of murder, manslaughter or any other offense. Investigators were flown in from Bonaire to investigate.

This incident stirred up much shock on the island. The last violent crime on the island with only 3500 residents took place on August 29, 2005.
